Course presentation and objectives

LUMSA University, in collaboration with the LUMSA Human Academy Foundation and in agreement with the Rome Bar Association (Bar Association resolution 25/7/2024), has established a training course for access to the legal profession (LUMSA Board of Directors resolution 17/7/2024), the first semester of which began in November 2024.

The Course, divided into three six-month modules (beginning in May 2026, October 2026, and May 2027), aims to prepare young law graduates, through essentially practical training, in order to help them take the exams required for the qualification to practice law.

The lessons, taught by lawyers, magistrates, and university professors, adopt a predominantly case-based approach, using an innovative and interactive teaching methodology, with the assistance of tutors.

The corrections to the papers are personalized with illustrations of the specific methods for drafting opinions and documents.

Teaching methodology:

All classes emphasize interactive teaching, encouraging student participation in critical and reasoned discussions of the cases presented. Each class will address at least one case, including a discussion of the sources, case law, and possible defense strategies. At the end of the class, students will be assigned an assignment for drafting a legal document or opinion. Each student paper is marked individually, with the results presented in class by the instructor and, in a personalized manner, by the tutor. Throughout the three semesters, classroom exercises will alternate with homework assignments.

During the lessons, specific methodological guidance is provided on drafting techniques, research methods for sources, and case law. Special attention is paid to the use of legal language and proper argumentation.

The lessons are expected to feature both high-ranking and high-level magistrates.

In-depth analysis of doctrine and jurisprudence, as well as updates on legislative developments, conferences, and other news of interest, are available to each student in the reserved area.
